I graduate this summer (Computer Systems degree) and am going to head off somewhere with the idea of combining travel with work one way or the other. Having already worked in Germany and the US I'd be interested to explore some other exciting places.

I was also thinking about going to China / Thailand to teach English as a foreign language on a 5/10 month contract. Anyone ever done this? Opinions? Hints?

China and Thailand are very diff places to teach english.
Thailand there is a lot more people who speak english (plus more wanting to learn)
China is very very big, if your going to go, work out where in china you want to be, you should be easy able to find work teaching english in china pay about $350 a month with your place payed for.
(i got a job offer to teach english with in 1/2 hour of landing in beijing, i had met someone going over to teach on the way over. and i was just going to be there for 6 weeks, + there are loads of signs up in the travel cafes looking for people) liveing in china is very cheep so it's a good bit of money. there are a lot less westers in china so you could end up in a school where there is just 1-2 other westeres liveing in the town/city your in.

my cousin is doing it at the moment in china. he's in a tiny town where he's the only westerner, but he loves it. He says that all the towns people treat him like a king, brining him food every night and **** like that. Every 2/3 weeks he meets up with other people in the same boat as him in a larger town in the region.

Nice one, yeah I'd really like to go somewhere in that direction...and I'm sure that it would be a good experience to draw on in future no matter what happens.
