I just got my digibox, and I can't insert the cards! When I try to insert a card, I can see the card reader moving! (when looking throught the airvents) I have a DRX300.

Is this a common problem?! Perhaps is occured in transit?

I've got the card in now, but have the following symptoms:

At channel 998, it says: "There is a problem with your card etc etc", and when I take out the card it says, "Please insert your card"

When I go to Services-System Setup-System Details the viewing card number says "NO CARD" even when the card is in.

Do I have a broken card reader? Any ideas anyone?

(And if I have broken the card reader, is it fixable? All the free channels still work)

Unfortunately I haven't heard of this happening before, so I don't know of any fixes (did you try the old reliable- unplug the digibox for a few minutes ?)

Did you get the digibox from a dealer in Ireland ? If so, I'd give them a call and try to get it replaced as soon as possible because, even if you do get it to work now, there's nothing to say that the problem won't recur.

    God luck with it.

If your still under warranty get the whole unit replaced ASAP, if not you can repair the card reader very easily, the reader itself should not move at all, so you can open the box and touch up the solder joints on the reader. If the whole reader is broke you can replace it easy enough, their available in RS.

Thanks for the info. Before I assume the card reader is broken I am going to test somebody else's working card in it to see if the card number shows up under Services-System Setup-System Details. If it's only a faulty card then that will be a relief. Otherwise I may indeed have to replace the card reader. BTW, what's "RS"?

Turns out the card reader itself is faulty, as my card shows up fine in other people's digiboxs. sh*te.
