    Have a read...

Posted on Tuesday, 15th January 2002 at 21:55 GMT by Neil Wilkes
Now and Next EPG data for the ITV Sport Channel is now being transmitted alongside two test channels at 28.2o East.

The idents '3-6' and '3-7', with data for ITV Sport and ITV Sport Plus respectively, can be found on Tp 10.906 (Pol V, SR 22.0, FEC 5/6).

No audio or video feed are currently accompanying the tests.

Stick with Digital Spy for the latest on this story.

Ok, (I haven't seen this, so I believe it to be true) but why would they test ITV Sport Select, when Sky Digital has already got Premiership Plus?

Maybe they might offer a better deal than premiership plus from sky? I think they do that in the UK. Also I think ITV Sport Select shows some division 1 games too (I could be wrong!!)

ITV sport shows all the nationwide football.

It would be a nice addition to Sky Digital
for those of us who believe there isn't
enough live football on tv. :-)

firstly would we get it in ireland. i might be blocked like ITV2. I was wondering is the formula 1 coverage on ITV SPORT or on ITV1 beacuse RTE coverage is useless.

ITV Sport Channel in Ireland on Sky Digital? Probably yes, as they want money. :) Any money will do. But the whole thing about ITV Sport Channel (ITV SC) on Sky Digital is a dead duck again.... http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,7493,634380,00.html

ITV only has the F1 contract for terrestrial coverage, so you can only see it on ITV1 (and ITV2 for highlights and such) But as ITV SC is a subscription only channel, well that is a horse of a different colour. ITV dont have those rights at all, nobody has them for the UK, and for extra services like you get on RTL in Germany. Sky enquired 2 years ago, but didn't fancy forking that amount of money to Bernie.

If you want F1 coverage then get yourself D+ with the Telepiu package or Premiere Sport.
You get 6 high quality digital channels covering only F1.
If you get yourself a motorised dish you can go hunting for F1 feeds and now is the time to do so.
I managed to pickup the 3 day test in Barcelona, and the big highlight was to see Nicky Lauda drive the new Jag3 and spin it twice on the same conrner and one occasion was a warmup lap, the irony was that Lauda was quoted as saying last year
with so many driving aids and control systems on the modern F1 cars, the only thing the driver does is steer
    ..very true Nicky.

    Eutelsat W1 10°E - 11,014 GHz/V, SR 5630, FEC 3/4 - Jaguar Formula1 class prototype run.

having a look at the EPG info on ITV sport it looks like a very poor line up. i'll have to wait and see what it is like tomorrow. The Sunday Times culture magazine doesn't carry ITV SC listings.
good pictures BTW. i saw it on the news last night and had a little bit of a laugh

    Hi, 7day theory,

Just read your post about the F1 coverage on D+. What is this? Foreign digital satellite? How would I get it?what equipment needed?
    I'm a big F1 fan!!

D+ is part of the Tele+ or Telepiu package.
But i would forget this package even if you wish to persue the offical subscription lines...[rant begins]basically this is what got me going in sat piracy, last april i heard about Tele+ Multiple Angle F1 coverage on Hotbird and wanted to subscribe. In total i almost spent 3 hours on the phone speaking to italians with poor english who just would not budge, they would not supply me with a smart card..crazy.I was later informed by a guy on this forum that the encryption was cracked, keye were openly available, so money was spent, f1 was watched and Telepiu were no richer.[/rant over]

But next march Tele+ are changing their encryption systems to Super SECA or SECA V2, and the chances of the encryption being beaten by the season opener are ......forget it.

The one to watch is Premiere sport, SECA again, and provide the same channels.
I dont think they are too likely to change before the season off.

As for equipment, i would advise a Humax !RCI 5400z, simply because of great software support and the machine can emulate all encryptions with so software modification.

But the 5400 will cost you, i see @ www.irelands-satellite.com they have an incredibly priced reciever.

Digenius CI = €234, amazing value for money.
Never heard of them but it doesnt look too bad at all..

You then want to couple that with a CAM, again same site will cover you.
Go for the IRDETO FreeCAM, as this can Emaulate all Encryptions.

The CAM may say Irdeto, but it can also do SECA/Viaccess/Nagra/Betacrypt.

@ €237, thats the cheepest i have seen it!!.

You then need your CARD, i advise you to go with the new Funcard3, i wont provide the link here, but if you are serious PM me.

You will need an Elvis programmer or something similar, again i will give you the link if you want, and as for files, thats no probs.

If Tony has all that stuff, you might get out of the shop for €550, which is very light, compared to what you would have paid only a few weeks ago.

personally, i think its the wrong time to get into this game, if you have the cast then maybe, but being a little conservative and waiting until march might prove an excellent decision.

ITV Sport Channel needs Sky Digital.... as this article shows.... ratings are not clever....

COMPANIES & FINANCE UK: ITV Sport low in the ratings
    Financial Times; Jan 17, 2002
    By MATTHEW GARRAHAN

The number of people tuning in to recent football matches on ITV Sport, the sport channel operated by ITV Digital, have been so low they have registered as a zero with Barb, the official ratings board.

The pay-TV operator owned by Granada and Carlton Communications bought the rights to Nationwide League football and the Worthington Cup competition last year for Pounds 315m.

However, according to figures seen by the Financial Times, not enough people tuned in to watch Sheffield Wednesday against Blackburn Rovers in the first leg Worthington Cup semi-final, one of the most high profile matches broadcast by the company this season, to register with Barb.

The match was shown on ITV Sport on January 8. The audience for Birmingham versus Nottingham Forest on New Year's Day also failed to register.

The Barb sampling panel of 5,000 households is the commonly accepted standard for measuring audiences. The figures usually come out overnight but problems with a new measurement system caused the delay.

Barb ratings only register audiences above a thousand, so up to 999 people may have been watching the matches. But the figures are still likely to come as a blow to ITV Digital, which is attempting to take on British Sky Broadcasting in the pay-TV market.

The low figures are likely to speed calls for a carriage deal with BSkyB that would grant ITV Sport access to a wider audience.

ITV Digital's management is thought to be split over whether such a move would be a good idea. Some executives are thought to believe that a carriage deal would harm subscriber take-up of ITV Digital.

However, others are thought to be keen do a deal, as the larger available audiences would generate extra advertising revenue.
