    Anywho, would anyone be able to tell us how to set up my mirc client to connect to quakenet (or any irc server) using http tunnel?

    Ive got the http tunnel program currently configured and running to connect winamp to shoutcast servers no problem, but as how to set up mirc correctly to run with it im confuzzled.

    (Borrowed from a friend Dara.)

    You need to configure it to forward http data via the proxy you use to access the internet. This will be the same proxy as your web browser is configured to access the internet through.

    An example:

    proxy-server-name.domain-name.ie

    port = 8080

    You'll have to get your own information to replace that

    if you have just installed it, you'll need to run the registration wizard first. In that it will ask you for what connection you have enter the following in the areas of the menus.

    connection type=Permanent LAN
    I am behind a firewall
    =>next

    specify what socks server is being used=Socks4 server
    =>next

    Socks4 host=127.0.0.1
    Socks4 port=4000

    use mapped port on a proxy=checked
    proxy server host=127.0.0.1
    proxy server port=4000
    =>next

    now if you are registering for the first time it will try using the info you gave to access icq. If you already had it installed it will want to test your settings.

    With http-tunnel the configuration settings are the same.

    to use mIRC go to the mIRC options, and look at the firewall settings under the connect menu.

    select use firewall
    set protocol = socks 4
    hostname=127.0.0.1
    port=1080

    That should pretty much get it working, wit a little bit of tweaking.

    I've set it up with Dara's help, but it keeps disconnecting me from irc.quakenet.eu.org and most other quakenet servers i have.
    Bit of a kick in the nads really.

    I hear 6667 is open for zion now.

    Can't get it going either. It does get as far as the 'connecting to irc.b0rk.co.uk' but it stalls somewhere along and it never fully connects.

    I'm goin a bit mad in here (UCD) Mouselike.org connections are being refused too :( The only port open on the proxy is 84, for http, and for some reason, mirc won't go through. Anyone got it to work in UCD?:(
