    Changing the Menu Show Delay

Windows normally delays menus before they are displayed. For regular users this delay can become annoying, with this setting you to change the delay time or remove it altogether.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value, or modify the existing value, named 'MenuShowDelay' and set it to equal the delay you would like before the menus are shown as a time in milliseconds.

Log off or restart Windows for the change to take effect.

    Settings
    Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    Value Name: MenuShowDelay
    Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
    Value Data: 0-999 (milliseconds)

    Change the Recycle Bin Icons

Would you like to make you Recycle Bin into something a bit more exciting? Maybe a glowing toxic waste bin? With this tweak you can change the icon to be whatever you like.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Within the key are three values: '(Default)', 'Empty' and 'Full'. Set the values to equal the icon you'd like to display for the various states of the Recycle Bin.

These changes should take effect immediately, you may need to refresh your desktop by clicking on a blank area and pressing F5.

    Settings
    Key: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\
    {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\DefaultIcon]

    Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
    Value Data: Filename

    Full Window Drag Option

This setting enables the Full Windows Drag function, which allow you to view the contents of window while dragging it across the screen, instead of just the standard outline.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value named 'DragFullWindows', or modify the existing value, to equal '1' for enabled, or '0' for disabled.

Close the registry and log off or restart Windows.

    Settings
    Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
    Value Name: DragFullWindows
    Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
    Value Data: (0=disable, 1=enable)

    Appearance and Display

Although the animation function can make animated Windows look good, it can also slow down your PC if you have a slower graphics card. This setting allows you to control whether the function is enabled or disabled.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value, or modify the existing value, named "MinAnimate" and set it to '0' to disable the animation or '1' to enable it.

Restart or log off Windows for the change to take effect.

    Settings
    Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]
    Value Name: MinAnimate
    Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
    Value Data: (0=disable, 1=enable)
