I had a similar problem a few weeks ago.
Call Sky's customer service on the freefone number, give them your details, and they'll download the channel for you. It can take about 20 minutes, but worth the wait.

I also had that problem, with BBC1 and with Sky Sports. It actually took a second and third call before it became clear - it would seem that the digibox makes available stations / activates the card on a 'modular' basis.

While I was waiting, I found Tara available. If you can still see Tara, then I would guess that you are still being activated.
