What type of hardware/software ya need?

Just incase your curious why? I just want a cheap way of puttin my music on tape for a walkman and also in the car.

    Cheers,
    Alo.

find a tape recorder with either line-in or any sort of microphone input..

then a 3.5mm to 2phono or 3.5mm -> 3.5mm cable should do the trick (depending on the tape machines connections)... stick it in your lineout, press record and play your mp3s.

And queue your mp3s in Winamp or whatever you use. Saves you pausing your tape deck

(makes making a compilation from mp3 to tape more convenient than making one from a few CDs to tape)

I actually saw an mp3 player that was audio cassette shaped. It was in one of those Innovations catalogues. You load up yer mp3's into this cassette and it has a d/a converter that touches the tape head when play is pressed. You can play it on any tape player.

Or maybe I was dreaming, I will try and find a link later. :)

That looks absolutely sweet. Probably costs a fortune though.

am, personnally I'd rather buy a decent MP3-CD walkman and burn mp3 compilations onto CD for 70c a pop. Better battery life then those heavy, and delicate, hard drive solutions. Plus i allready have a burner, an essential bit of kit nowadays.

I briefly heard about those USB -> FO connections, that enable you to record your MP3s to MD. I recently got a mental MD recorder for myself, and resorted to using my PS2 to record digitally using the FO out, on the back of the unit.

But I want to eliminate the need to burn the MP3s to CD-Audio, and then record them off the CD to the MD using the PS2.

Soooooo, where can I get one of those USB -> FO connections, and how much (in Galway preferably). :D

    Cheers, :)

Yeah, I saw those. If you've a discman, you could burn normal audio cd's, and there's a converter that's similar, just a tape with a lead connecting to the discman... costs about 12 quid, though I can't remember where I saw them last.

    Hey I don't remember posting a thread in here...oh wai...it's from 7 years ago :D

Yeah just get a 3.5mm male to male audio cable and stick it into the audio in on your pc/laptop (which it must have) and record with whatever software you want . Not sure what the sound quality is going to be like off a cassette...it's been so long.

    Wow seven years.

I got my Sony USB-optical convertor back in about 2000 for about 80 punts. It was very expensive but I get a huge amount of usage out of it every day.
Great for playing laptop music thorugh your stereo/sound system
The sound is top class from it-best 80 I ever spent
