LNB's and Sky dishes

Wondering if anyone here can shed some light on this please.

Recently got hooked up to Europeonline (satellite internet service) which comes with a "freebie" skystar2 card as part of the deal.

All works fine with this service (with a couple of quirks)..see below.

Myself and a few friends have had sky dishes realighned to 19.2east to use this service.

Initially all worked fine, no problems at all, strong signal strength ..no problems watching tv or receiving data streams.

However once in a while after changing some settings in the software all data and broadcast signals appear to die (but the software still reports good signal)

How we fix the problem, is by hooking our sky boxes back up to the dish cable and then back to the card and all is well again.

So my question is this, is it possible that the lnbs are physically affected by the Europeonline software and need resetting every once in a while or is something else happening.

Do lnbs act differently depending on what they are connected to or are they like, for example, a coat hanger on the back of a telly, ie it just sends signal and whats on the end of the cable deciphers it?

I think you have a conflict with software rather than sw screwing with the LNb.
I doubt that software is doing strange acts to the LNb, maybe the LNb does not like being tuned to the same channel 24/7

Is it the dish for Sky Digital that your using.?

It's too small, and the holes make it even worse. Get an 80cm
dish.., you may be able to improve things by properly aligning it.

What did you use to align.??
