Going to Italy in Febuary and I need to get some of the gear, anyone know of any good shops I can go to?

Um, last time I checked (some time ago) there was The Great Outdoors and another place on the road that joins Grafton Street and Georges street (right after Weirs jewelers as you are coming up Grafton str).

Where are you going in Italy? Its probably cheaper to buy whatever you are looking for out there.

What kinda gear are you looking for anyway? I might be able to suggest alternatives to buying it, snowboarders have the luxury of not being expected to wear the height of fashion and so can improvise :)

Great Outdoors is on Chatham Street. Dunno where Weir's jewelers is relative to it, but Chatham street is the one which meets Grafton Street at the AIB beside HMV. Great Outdoors is about 5-6 doors down on the RHS as you walk away from Grafton Street.

Personally, I would recommend that you rent board and boots out there (assuming you dont have them already). It may be cheaper, and its definitely easier than lugging all your heavy gear around.

In terms of clothing, a set of waterproof gloves are a must :) After that....I wear a fleece with aT-shirt and polo-neck under it when skiing, so same style of stuff will work for snowboarding I'd imagine.

Only thing you might want is some heavy / waterproof trousers.

Its funny....I see the big bomber-jacket style ski clothing that so many Irish people pick up, and all the expensive kit they buy/rent when going skiing. Then I move to Switzerland and see what the locals wear - its more comfortable, more practical and cheaper. I dress like the locals. They seem to treat you as less of a twat that way :)
