I'm thinking of buying one of these in the sales, the ones that usually have 4 speakers and a woofer thing. What I wanna know is, when you're watching TV or a video, can you still use the speakers, or are they exclusively for the DVD player. Thanks in advance.....

We got an LG-1 home cinema set recently, which was a DVD player and 5 speaker surround set + subwoofer, at the minute they'll only work for sound on DVDs, is there any way we can force the sound from the TV/Video through it?

We wired ours through the TV and it works for both, prob a quality drop though.

depends on what connections your tv and dvd player has.

if the dvd player has an integrated amp then it should have audio in connections, in which case it shouldn't be a problem:

if you have just one scart at the back of the tv then get yourself a scart -> 6xphono connection cable... throw the video in/out and audio in/out connections in the right places at the back of the dvd and there ya go

oh well...the one I was talking about was some make I have never even heard of....not even Alba or Daewoo, and I don't trust Power City, so I spent £279 on a Sony one. Thanks anyway.

We use a seperate sony 5.1 surround sound theatre amp unit thingy (tm), the video, dvd, and TV are routed to it seperatly, sweeet.
If you're getting a DVD player, I'd make sure there's some region codes/hacks available for it first... do your research. :)
