Folks, I need a modem to run under Windows 95 on a pentium 166 machine. Any suggestions?

whatever you do dont get a winmodem (internal software modem). With that spec it wont perform well at all.
Any external modem will do you nicely if its not for games.
Im sure some folks here will recommend good games modems:)

winmodems will work fine on a p166
im assuming youre not interested in playing processor-intensive games on that machine while using the modem

Don't really agree with you there Koopa, just what modern app isnt "processor-intensive " for a 166 pc?

Definately would go for a hardware modem on this pc.

If It's a p166, there should be at least one ISA slot available. ISA modems are still available, though they are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Even with my dual pIII system, I wouldn't touch a win modem.

If you are running the later version of win95, you may be able to use a usb modem (I am presuming you have usb ports) as these tend to be hardware modems.

    Good luck on your quest..:)
