    I'm guessing that square blob is a Euro Symbol?

    What version of 1-2-3 are you using?

    I rarely use 1-2-3, but checking it now I can see the Euro fine.

    Select your field (or range) and go to Range-Properties menu option.

    In the infobox that appears select the third tab (will have a # symbol). Select Currency from the left list and then select "Euro" from the Right list. It's also possible to create a currency if that's not there but I can't remember how to do it.
