    Does anyone know if such a thing exists. i.e. something that would emulate a cisco router's OS on a PC for training purposes.

    Boson NetSim is another one that emulates a whole range of Cisco kit. Not free though.

    Yeah, there really ought to be something in vBulletin, or an add-on, that pops up with a warning when you try to reply to a thread that's older than a certain threshold, and ask you if you really, really, really want to to do that.
