Perl and GNU problems

okay I have a couple of problems in linux, when I installed the gcc compiler worked okay but when I tried to invoke the g++ compiler (for c++ files) it wouldn't work. Anyone had any similar problems, would it cause a problem and is it even possible to install over that installation.

Also I had a couple of problems with perl when I went to install a new module it couldn't find a certain program necessary to allow me to make the file, makemaker.pl or something it was called, and when I tried to manually put the module where I wanted it, so would it be better and is it possible to reinstall perl, pretty much the same as the query above.

Both of these questions are linked to my other post here, in that if it is better to reinstall is it better to do it as root or as user.

Yeah you'll have to reinstall as root ;)

For c++ compiling make sure you have the c++ compiler installed.

For perl modules you'll need some of the perl development libraries installed. I usually install most of the development folder, not sure if mandrake has one or not??

Yeah it does, but I found with Mandrake 8 that I had to keep the cds handy cos it needed manual installation of some things that I thought would have been installed by default (with the developer install), like e.g. KDevelop, etc.
