Robbies' Gone To Leeds!

As I write I've just heard that Liverpool and Leeds have agreed a deal over Robbie Folwer subject to medical, personel terms etc,
I don't quite know how I feel about this, Folwers' still a great player but plainly not first choice under the current Anfield
regime. Leeds will proberly be great for him but therefore
    bad for the 'pool.

Will Houlier spend the £UK11 Million on a new striker or
    cope with "just" three?

    Mike.

    Umm...

    Interview with Phil Thompson.

    27th November, 2001. AKA Today!!
Is Robbie Fowler on his way to Leeds?

No. We are still in discussions with Robbie Fowler about a new contract. We want Robbie Fowler to stay at this club. Every week you read the same things. It's Robbie Fowler this, it's Robbie Fowler that. Certain press people seem to be continually trying to undermine this football club in one way or another, and they are trying to unsettle the player. Robbie seems to be the ideal person to put the finger on all the time. We are doing well, we are top of the league, but everyone seems to want to chip away. I find it hard a lot of the time, but I suppose, where Robbie is concerned, we've just got to accept this sort of thing because it appears to be an on-going situation.

    Lying ****.

    edit: not you Mike :)

And to answer your second question:

NEAL: REDS HAVE FOWLER REPLACEMENT LINED UP

    Buy Kluivert damnit!! ;)

Because I'm too upset to comment on the whole thing in this present state of shock all I will say is that as I write this, the deal is not yet closed but it does look like hes GOING not GONE.

So lets all hope Leeds offer him a shítty contract and Robbie sees the sense and the error of his ways.

    [WTF are the 'Pool thinking:confused:]

Apparently Fowler wanted to leave, wouldn't accept the contract :(

Can't blame him though, a great striker and he's 3rd choice? I wouldn't stay either to be honest.

There's a certain Stam-esque quality to this transfer although I doubt nandrolone would be the substance found in Fowler's blood in a few weeks (allegedly) :)

Can't blame him for going, being behind Heskey in the pecking order for God's sake - I hope he does well if he ends up at Leeds, I dare say they're trying to line up a buyer for that thug Alan Smith right now :)

Milan Baros - He's been on the shopping list for a while
both Berger and Smicer have recomended him, they're Czech mates! (sorry). He's been touted as the new Michael Owen one's great- two would be fab :D.

While the deal is'nt done I think its safe to say Fowler has gone,
something I never thought I'd see but then I doubt Robbie did
either, its a long way from the glory days of the "RAF".

Smith is a great player but as you say has attitude problem- like most of the Leeds side.

Oh PiE, regarding Thomos' quote - its a fast moving world, football...:D

Omg Rush and Fowler. Now you've done, now you've made me cry.

Signing Milan Barros is all very well, but he's unproven. Personally, if we lose a big name like Fowler I'd like to see us sign a bigger name.

Not looking at anyone in particular Patrick Kluivert.

PiE, The Reds would have to sell Owen to get Kluivert!

    Mike.

Oh me too is about to cry...

Imagine marrying the defence we have now w/ a Rush-Fowler strikeforce (include Aldridge-Fowler in that BTW)

It all makes me ill. WTF happenned to the strength and depth in squad terms for the Champs Lge Campaign we always hear about.

It wouldn't be that bad if he was goin abroad, but to sell him to the most proximate side in the Premiership race, it defies logic.

Only Rivaldo can save this melancholy!

    URRRRRGGGGHHHHHH

    Jeez.

But PiE, we'd still need another world class skriker...
And I was just saying that to my friend 80p, LEEDS OF ALL BLOODY CLUBS!

Gosh I'm over the 200 mark and I did'nt notice in all the excitment,
    or is it angish?

oh yes, I think I heard mention of Dwight Yorke in the last few days...

    Mike.

Well it was on the walls for some time but it doesnt make it any easier, fowler was and imho is one of the greatest strikers in europe, Liverpools new style of play was never going to suit him really. I just wish he went outside of england

Anyway farewell to the messiah and thanks for all the joy you brought

Youll Never Walk Alone Robbie [even if ya do bag a hattrick against us :)]

Oh and if Dwight Yorke shows his head at Anfield ill personally go over there and beat the f u ck out of him :D like cmon why sell fowler and buy some tit like yorke

Hmm I'm just wondering about Robbie Keane. Obviously he'll be warming the bench for longer now.

Also why didn't Arsenal make a bid for him, he is just the type of player they need.

    Gandalf.

The deal is not done yet.

Apparently Souness wants Fowler too, and David Dein has gone on record as saying Arsenal would be interested in signing him.

Unless Fowler himself has a perference for Leeds, there could be a twist in the tail of this 1.

Whats goin on? In every Liverpool Team you have a player that you will always associate with Liverpool - Rush! Aldrigde! and Fowler! Fowler is Liverpool!

To be honest i would play Fowler ahead of both Owen and Heskey anyday! Its a pity that Houllier and Thompson never gave him a chance since Heskey came in! Then they expect him to produce miracles when he comes on for 15 mins!! We all know what Fowler can do we seen it against Leicester! But he needs a run of a few games to get into form!!

They are already lining up a bid for David Trezeguet as a replacement! maybe he might start ahead of Heskey! or wait a minute .... maybe not!

Barros is not ready to play for us! too young an inexprienced!!!

    Its all gone Pear Shaped!!

But hell.... Leeds are a good club! Fair do Fowler!!!

Fowler is the daddy of english football.......

    I cant believe Liverpool.

    Im ****in rippin.

Heskey is so over rated.....i reckon leeds bought fowler coz i have this feeling viduka will be gone the end of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭ButcherOfNog

hmmm fowler has done very little over the last 2 yrs, when he is played, he spends half his time on his arse.

Liverpool were always gonna sell him if contract talks fell through, and tbh i'd rate fowler as 4th in the list at Liverpool, Jari Litmanen wasn't getting much play due to what looked like a 'keep fowler happy' policy. Jari will get more games now, and will add more to the current Liverpool team than Fowler is currently doing.

Owen, Heskey & Litmanen will be the main 3 strikers with Baros (whos already bought) coming in as no4 ... unless Liverpool have summit up their sleeve with a new signing.

As for Heskey being useless, did none of you watch the Sunderland match on Sunday? He kept 2-3 Sunderland defenders busy for the full 90mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 950 ✭✭✭nasty_crash

Yeah we seen heskey play at the weekend! yeah we did also see him put pressure on the defence! thats fair enough for one day! but he hasn't been producing the fform we need him in to win the league! he scored his first goal in 14 games on Sunday!

Heskey is beginning to go back to his old ways at Leicester! helping out the defence! we have defenders there to defend! Heskey is a striker and thats where we need him!

Houll has something up his sleeve! A £18m bid for Trezequet! excellent! Then look at the starting two!

Although I'd love to see a player like Trezeguet playing for us, what're the chances of him actually agreeing to move to England? Not to mention that he's playing great for Juve at the moment. I just can't see him risking his career by upping sticks...

After thinking about it, Liverpool probably won't sign another big-name striker y'know. Houllier and Thompson are obviously very pleased with the way Heskey and Owen play together, and I can't see Trezeguet being happy to sit on the bench, Fowler stylee.

Pity Monsieur Wenger couldnt have had a word in houilliers bed ridden ear about young robbie, An on form fowler would be far preferable to that git Wiltord. Oh well, i suppose the best striker in europe will have to suffice :)

This is a realy good signing for Leeds, surely fowler will be first choice beside Viduka?

And to all you scouse fans, I wouldnt pin my hopes on Trezuget moving to england, players of that quality simply dont play in england (ok, apart from Veron whos not allowed play in Italy and Henry who was snaffled up young).

I was so suprised Dustaz that he didn't go to Arsenal.

When I saw the Headline on IOL last night it just read:

    "£11m Robbie Fowler move to..."
And I was sure it would be Arsenal. The only thing that perhaps detracted him from there is the uncertainty regarding Wenger's Contract and next season and beyond. At least Leeds seem a little more stable (well at least until the 2 lads are "sent down").

On second thoughts he prolly wouldn't do that well in an Arsenal Shirt- it seems he has to see the Gooner Crest in his midst to be sparked into scoring hatrick after hatrick against them;)
Sorry Dustaz, I'd say Robbie was your last hope before disaster next season and a summer clearout:) heeehheeee (Lest we never forget 1989)

This guy Cisse seems to be the main focus of attention at the moment with some mutterings aout Trezeguet and Gomes. As regards Fowler going he has been a great servant to the club but no player is bigger than LFC.

He doesn't fit in with Houllier's new regime and therefore must go and lets not forget that he wanted to go too ( the question of whether or not he was nudged out is up for debate). Houllier has brought success to this great club after a barren patch that none of us enjoyed, listening to United fans crowing about all they were winning, and I am willing to back him. We are top of the league at the moment and have five trophies in the cabinet not bad going.

So I say good luck to Robbie he will always be remembered as one of the greats of Liverpool but I am backing Houllier, the man who came and sorted this team out, in oreder for him to be able to lay down the law at the club he must have the fan's backing. I am a Liverpool fan first and a Fowler fan second so bye bye.

    BACK THE FROG! :D:D

    Walk On!:
