I went to the final gig on tuesday night in the Olympia, and although I don't know much of their new stuff, I thought the gig was pretty cool indeed!!

What did anyone else think of it??

It's a shame they are no more, since Neil Hannon has now left them to do his own thing

Edit: Incidentally this is my first thread ... Strangely enough, its NOT in the games, technology, or IrelandOffline sections, where I always thought it would be :D

I was at the Galway one yesterday. I'm a fan from the early days so I'm used to Neil being The Divine Comedy all on his lonesome. I'm guessing that he'll keep the name, he's just dropping the band, a bit of a regression maybe, but welcome in my eyes. They were much better when they were just his backing band. Giving creative licence to them was a bit of a mistake in my eyes (although I know a lot of people disagree with me).

Early Divine Comedy is some of the best of the ninties in my opinion. I don't love Regeneration the same way that I did Promenade etc., but that's mainly due to my absolute hatred of Nigel Godrich! :)

I think they should have played a lot of the more upbeat songs and just kept the slow ones together. It made the gig a bit schitzophrenic for the audience. What did you make of the cover of Power of Love?
