No Seriously - The Vatican Church was very much behind the implementation of fascist dictatorships in Latin and South America, i.e. General Pinochet in Chile (amongst others). As you are probably aware Pinochet stands accused of thousands of deaths. Maybe by timing is out a bit, but I'm pretty sure that JP II was head of the church at the time

there have been a few simular named popes the pope we were talking about was john paul II the 212 pope (1464-71) Born in Venice in 1417; elected 30 August, 1464.gandalf you could be right about that its been a while scenic i did history but the cathloic church sided with Mussolini because he supported the cathloic church and they both hated communism. Communism was against religion esp the cathloic church but it was not that intrested in destroying the russian ortherdox church.(i think)

What has the Catholic church done for Ireland except being a bunch of peodophiles.

Over the centuries the Church has provided an education when the state was opposed or even hostile. It had acted to introduce a wider European culture to Ireland as well as protecting our native culture against total assimilation during English rule.

I belive I was actually politely replying to Sean's first point to the best of my knowledge of Irish History.
I am not saying that this balances out the wrongness/hiding of peodophiles during recent history by parts of the Church.

I know that, I didnt mean anything underhanded by my rofl comment, but sean came here and tried to be smart, you came here and were actually intelligent and it was funny.
