Monty, another of those bloody newbies who wandered in, and watered down our little community with non QW playing muppetry. :)

The old days did not rock, except that everyone knew everyone, cos all we did was use IRC and play Quake. There were no kids, no bots, no cheating, and people all had proper nicks, Like Player(1) and (1)Unnamed. Quake 2 ruined everything. Damn it, damn it to hell.

ah yes, but think of all the leet skilled players who came along, me, castor troy, spoonman, junkie. funnily enough we all went on to play UT :)
QW was just, too brown :)

i cant remember when i first started posting on the boards. possibly about start of 98 i think.

the good ol days when zero abused every second poster (now my job :)) and bubbles actually had a gender and played from the comfort of his den.
devore had yet to take over the world, or even dip his many digits in irelands internet pie and had tme to come out for a pint with us normal gaming people. gun islanders were still up and running, nD were about somewhere and for some reason limerick was the centre of the world. well, at weekends anyway.
and the quake board would be filled with the joys of the word muppet.
still, now i have more people that i will never meet that i can annoy online :)

    Warning: Service intermittent.
We apologize for not anticipating the usage this service is receiving.
We are working on adding servers, but this process will take weeks.

    Again, we apologize.

The Wayback Machine is traveling back in time to locate pages stored in the Internet Archive. This may take a few moments.
LOL :D see what happens when you set boards users on a system!

    Great site...

good to be able to go back in time to now-defunct sites that I worked on... and settle some arguments ;)

    e.g.:

I WAS the one who started 2FM broadcasting on the web

    --

and it allowed me to get some funky graphical icons I thought I'd lost and can now re-use in another site...

    deadly :)

I've been carrying the same bookmarks file around since 99[1] - my boards link is still called "IGN" :)

btw, regarding the current boards, the CS board is still ~ 12,000 posts behind quake (even despite their spam) :)

    Al.

    1. 2 great progs, Bookmarks2Favorites and Favorites2Bookmarks, so could switch between browsers without losing any of my thousands of bookmarks

I think I came in a bit to late for that wonderful show of early craftsmanship ;)
