With the news that RTE is cutting about 200 hrs of home grown
programming the thought occured to me- "would I even notice?",
so the question is will you notice or even care?

    BTW what should they cut?
    .
    Mike.

I would say Mike-it's all a matter of getting their house in order.
Theres no doubt in my mind that cutbacks in "in-house" production by RTE will result in an increase in independent production.I note for instance-that Bachellors walk programme was filmed with tiny digital camera's, and on the street with the public milling around unawares-definitely less costly than Fair Cities production-I would think.
So on balance-A good thing-You might even see an improvement:)

they could get rid of Fair City for starters. then remove the pointless European weather forecasts on Network 2. the could also get rid of their so called stars who are paid a fortune and bring in some good new people and pay them less

or just move everything over to TV3 and let TV3 take the best bits. then, when the trash is left [mart whelen etc] give them the GMTV.

then, turn RTE into the major irish p.orn channel, and BANG, you gotsa ratins winner....
