all's quiet on the mechwars front

    a patch was installed over the weekend in mechwars and its cause a bit of a stir
    here the original mail sent out by platon the game creator
    As you remember from a previous announcement, I said I would take action if this bashing didn't stop. As a quick solution to this problem, I have changed two formulas in the game. The first thing is the LCU capture rate, and the second is the LCU build time/costs.

    LCU Capture Rate

    With the new formula, you will not be able to have anything below 60 LCUs. This is just -impossible- because of the new formula. Of the LCUs you have above these 60 LCUs the can lose maximum 10% per hour (or tick if you want).

    The exact formula will then be:



    (lcus - 60) * 0.1



    As an example, if the opponent have 100 LCUs, you will be able to steal 4 LCUs per tick. This is because: (100 - 60) * 0.1 = 4.

    LCU Build Time & Cost

    The build times for your first LCUs have been shortened, and overall the build cost is lower than before. Your first 10 LCUs will take 1 hour each to build, the next 20 (LCU number 10 - 30) will take 2 hours each, and the next 40 (LCU number 30 - 70) will take 3 hours each. The rest will be 4 hours each.

    As I said, the LCU build cost has also been lowered, even though I won't go out with the exact formula. You should, however, be able to build up from 0 to 100 LCUs easily within 12 days if you were online all the time, and probably within 3 weeks if you're not that active.

    Other

    Some of you will like this change, other won't. But, as always, it's impossible to please everybody. Hopefully this will make the game more fun for most of the players, as that's my initial intention with the game.

    Right now the average player has 32 LCUs. The player with most LCUs has over 420. That's when I think something is wrong with the game. The LCUs should be more evenly spread among the players. That's why I'm doing this, to let players build up more easily, meaning that the players that have a low amount of LCUs will enjoy the game as much as the players with a high amount of LCUs do.

    Also, for those of you who claim that you don't get all the LCUs you steal, I have now been monitoring the game for 2 weeks, and not a single LCU hasn't been delivered to those who stole them, except from a very rare occasion when you're supposed to get 1 LCU, but get 0.

    And last, but not least, there is not point whatsoever to contact me or anybody else in the 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 countries either via in-game PM, on IRC or via e-mail. Anything regarding LCUs or this patch will silently be deleted from the system.

    this means that once you had 69 lcus (4 hours each to build) you couldnt lose 'ANYMORE', for those of you that dont get this, at the moment im having a good season in mechwars and i have 64 lcu's and 18 from an attack on their way back to me.
    so the guy i attacked is down to about 30 lcu's, he cant retaliate on me because he will lose all his mechs and only get 1 or 2 lcu's back. and in my opinion thats ****e, i dont mind losing my lcu's its happened to me before and i came back.

    this patch was brought about by a very loud minority in the mechwars community who were bitching about getting zeroed, the reply of the community in general was to protest, almost 1500 players wore the tag [CLFB] (Change the Lcu Formula Back)
    (1500 players is almost 20% of the players in the game)
    heres the response to the protest
    Just an official warning to all CLFB clans out there: any clan that has either CLFB or mentions LCU in either their clan tag or their clan name will be removed from the game by tomorrow evening 18:00 game time. There are 25 clans currently that will be removed because of this.

    In addition, anybody that has anything with this to do in their signatures, or as part of their handle or ward, will lose their ability to play the game temporarily (or permanently).

    For those of you who don't like this game, please move on. It's no use in forcing your opinion on other people that are happily enjoying the game. In other words: if you don't like it, leave. If you're not going to leave, then stop talking about it, at least stop whining about it.

    The new formula -is- making this game more enjoyable and more fair -- there's no doubt about that. Yes, it might be a little bit extreme, but that's how it's going to be.

    i dont really have much more to say except if it isnt fixed in the next couple of days im gonna quit playing (ive been playing since round1) and i dont really want to quit.

    My account got deleted cause i was inactive for 3 days while i was in cork :( Twas stupid of platton to put that in when theres no vacation mode.
