in relation to world topics and such things.
i say this on this board because when bands introduce a political element to their music or if a music mag.has political element to it there is always a mixed reaction to this.

    e.g.
stigma posted about the G8 riots and there was a bit of a debate going on.

    now granted it wasnt phantom or music related;but music is about a point of view;

and it seems that no-one seems to have one (or care about world matters).

this is what i get for reading the amnesty international paper for the first time...

Does anyone care about the REAL problems of the world?

    I care.
but i dont do anything about it.

I Care. Politics have a place in music. If it wasn't for the Wolftones i wouldn't be a republican. If it wasn't for the Levellers i wouldn't be a "green". If it wasn't for Sex Pistols i wouldn't be an Anarchist. If it was for Frank Zappa i wouldn't be at peace with myself.

Ps i'm none of the above

You may or may not know this but there are other forums on boards.ie dedicated specifically to things like human rights and whatnot.

Try posting your comments there, more chance of getting a discussion going, if thats what you're after.

...thru the vocal chords of Bono

i remember watchin sky news earlier this year and they
were doin that newspaper review yolk with a blondie
posh one discussing various aritcles and stories. One such
article was about Bono's drop the debt campaign - he was
orchestrating some protest somewhere and i think he
was meeting Blair or some similar figure.

Jesus did she piss me off, basically sayin what does bono think
he's doin tryin to be a political figure, why doesn't he take
money out of his own pocket and stop asking the people to.

He obviously isn't a political figure and probably knows little more than the regular news watchers and readers. But he's a
greater voice than most as do many "stars" in music and he's
right to selflesssly make the most of it.

You may not agree with what they have to say sometimes
but to say that such stars should shut up is no different than
telling the average person protesting on the street to shut up.
It'd be arrogant to tell either to shut up.

Damon Albarn made the most of his MTV award tonight by
repeating "Stop The War" and i know many of us would reply
back to to the telly "wanker, what do you know about politics?",
...he knows as little/much as the masses of people
    protesting
(who don't get the opportunity to grace a stage and plead with
millions of viewers for support) and whose voice he is projecting.

no,because this board isnt dedicated solely to it.

there would be a response of "of course we care" on the other board because it's all about that.

I got the impression you wanted to have a meaningful discussion about stuff like the G8 riots, not whether anyone cared about them.

This discussion is fairly pointless now that you mention it.
