Ok I finally got Xine working with my DVD player.

    I had to do...

    cd /dev
    ln -s hdc rdvd
    ln -s hdc dvd

So it plays the DVD now no bother. However it's all messy I assume because of the encrypytion. So I downloaded Captain_CSS plugin but I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do with it? It's sources but it doesn't compile. Keeps asking for XINE_CONFIG?

Also the Xine player seems to be offset from the origin (x,y > 0,0). It appears to be something directly related to my machine, so anyone know offhand what section of the source I need to edit to force the origin to a new location? (I'll probably go a wander though the source anyway).

    This might work.

    cp /usr/local/bin/xine-config /usr/bin
    chmod -v 777 /usr/bin/xine-config
    ldconfig

    Good Luck

    Thanks.

However I think the offset is caused by something else and I think that is what is causing the overlapping. :/

I d/l'ed vlc (which in my opinion pees all over Xine) but it does the same thing.

Try mplayer hobbes..works a treat with both divx and dvd's..just follow the instructions..search on freshmeat for it.
