the Sandinistas are leading the polls in Nicaragua ahead of next week's election. Dubya Don't Like It None. Sept.11th seems as good an excuse as any to destabilize the Marxist government if they get in.

If anything happens with the Sandinistas, America will most certainly use Sept 11th as a talking point to replace an anti-capitalist government. IF Ortega has the same plan.

Don't forget, the America Trade Agreement thingy is in place now - theoretically, the US might take actions against the US ebcause it disrupts trade routes and economic stability in the region. Well, it's an excuse.

The Sandinistas were already in power after a democratic election, and lost power the same way. The Saninista government was (at the time) on quite good terms with Washington as far as I know. It would be counter-productive in the extreme for America to interfere in Nicaragua again, especially as all sides have thus far respected the democratic mandate.
