Since yesterday when i turn my tv on it cuts out to a split screen with what the SD is showing, i have disconnected the SD, taken out the card, switched it off powered it down, powered everything down, unplugged everything... and the amazing thing is nothing stops the interference.

when the SD is disconnected it is like a cefax page tryig to get through...

mind you i cant get cefax or eirtell since the SD went in.

can anyone help or has this happened to anyone else.....

    Fi:confused:

I had this problem a couple of months ago, tried all the usual thing but no joy. I read somewhere that certain SD can over heat so I powered down the unit for 30 mins (thinking it may be an over heating problem). I then powered up with a forced dowload and everything returned to normal.

Lets know how you get on ;)

well unfortunatly i cannot do a forced d/l as i am not connected by the phone line!! ;)

However i did fiddle with the remote control and that seemed to do something. i have just turend the tv on again and it is happening again, it is so frustraiting to try to watch something on the terrestrial channels.

You don't need to be connected to the phone line.

Unplug the digibox from the mains .
    Wait 30 seconds .
Push the "backup" button on the digibox (NOT the remote) and while still holding the button, reconnect the mains.

After a couple of seconds you should see a message saying "Downloading system software ............." or something similar and all the front panel LEDs should lite up . Leave it to do it's thing . It may take up to 10 mins all the front panel LEDs should lite up

I think you only get the on screen message if your connect via a scart cable

    Give it a go ;)

    And be patient.

Apparently if you try to do anything with the box during the download, it could corrupt the software.

well i unplugged everything, bar the tv and the interferance was still there. so i disconnected the tv, replugged everything and problem still there, but it seems to stop its self.

As a friend told me maybe its the tv itsself.

thanks for all your help and if you get any more ideas id love to hear them

well many frustrating days later and i am still having this problem. i did the forced d/l and i thought it had fixed it, as i said earlier i have disconnected everything, but no cable stops the signal, i dont get it.

Anyway i am now wondering is it possible for this to be happening from within the tv ?

thismorning i was watching the SD upstairs and no problems but when i switched on the tv downstairs it is having the problem, so i wondered if the tv needed to maybe warm up a fault b4 the disruptions stopped. I am anot touching a thing today to see if it will resolve itsself. its been on 30 mins now and no change!!

If anyone knows anything about the workings of a tv itsself can you tell me if my theory could be right?

    thanks in advance

Sounds like either your tv is old or faulty
Or you are having electrical interference downstairs.
Bring down your other tv and try it downstairs-if its perfect-its your tv-if you have the interference still-its something downstairs thats causing it.

can you believe it after an hur and a half, i went over to the tv as it was now flicking over every 2 seconds if not more, and fiddled with wires and nothing happened but now its fine.

unfortunatly i cant get my other tvs down as they are secured to teh celings!!!

the tv will be fine now untill the morning when we go through all this again, maybe i just wont switch it off!!! you ever think these things have a mind of thier own and know what your doing!!!!!
