This was discussed on yesterdays "Sunday business show " on Today FM,where it was mentioned ( and I thought my ears were deceiving me) that RTE are in discussions with Sky-Does this mean that 101 to 104 may appear soon on the epg?

Also I would think that RTE might have second thoughts about launching its own digital channells-but this should not delay the launch of an Irish digital terrestial platform as this is now independent of RTE and is at tender stage.

It does raise major questions about effeciencies within RTE though-how could an organisation be running in a commercial manner(ie attempting to make a profit) if,within months of announcing them, it is cancelling plans to spend millions of licence payers funds on its own digital channels??
It smells of an organisation that doesn't need to worry too much about the business plans, people have to draw up in the real world-in order to get funding.
It's probably just typical "RTE politicking" again along with the contant "23p apple a day " licence adds to campaign for another rise.
I would never argue for the demise of RTE though-just carry on the job, make the necessary effeciencies and STOP grumbling!

There's an article about this in the next ICDG update, which will happen either tonight (if IOL stop giving me engaged tones) or tommorow.

Its a summary of weekend media speculation, I don't have anything concrete. Make of it what you will...
