D'ye know if it's better or worse than Corel Linux? (Really must get round to having a look at getting the modem working on it)

by all accounts coral is the worst type of linux...
    its designed for _newbies_
well its basic in the extreme

this months pcplus has got a review of a couple of the dists and suse 6.3 and mandrake 7.0 came out tops

Yup, just got it yesterday, but right now I'm running BEos v5. And it's quite good.

hmmmm... the boot disk maker fails with loadlibrary failure and if I try to run from dos I get:
"Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 08:01"

Now, if I could get some binaries for q3 on BEos then I'd be laughing

    /me cackles insanely

None, I just told kppp to look at /dev/ttys0
(I think, I'm back to win98) and it picked it up. Oh and I don't think I mentioned mine was originally a Kflex56 flashed to v.90.

Have to say i'm well impressed by Mandrake, linux has improved massively since I first tried to use it. The interface is cool, love those themes. Performance was slower than win98 but only cos I couldn't find where to tell it to see more than 64mb. Trouble is I've got too many things that it doesn't support yet (winCE handheld, M$ steering wheel etc.) but the future looks gooooood.

Micro, 99% of internal modems these days are winmodems and they dont work under linux

smile.gif..dave mandrake is based on rh, rh6.2 works a treat, might install mandrake just to c what its like..

but really it don`t matter all that much what u use as long as u can use it and are happy. i can`t wait for openbsd/redhat distro smile.gif..

hmmm just finished setting up win2k, and it's brilliant, so stable and runs q3 no bother with the 3dfx beta drivers. Cheerio win98.

P.s special thanks to Sutty for his assistance smile.gif
