maybe a javascript alert popup when the last boards.ie window is closed. if this is possible, maybe an option to turn off this feature in the user options, cos it could get kinda annoying.

Oh Beef won't like that. This being his first post ever and all! It's not his fault really it could happen to anyone. I'll let him know when I see him tomorrow. I hope you did the right thing and logged out for him.

Good idea about the pop-up btw. :)

Personally I'd prefer something like after 30 mins or so of inactivity you automatically get logged out. I tend to logon to the boards from quite a lot of different places so that it'd be handy.

    ...
    NO!

Bad enough as it is, I seem to be logged out every hour or three. Annoying goddamn thing.

I access from the same place all the time, don't wnat to be logged out

Some sort of tickbox in your profile would keep everybody happy

I disagree with amp's timed logout idea, - I mostly log on from the same PC and same copy of Opera, and it's handy that the site already knows me when I get there.

All you gotta do to log out is return to the home page and click on the "[logout]" link next to the welcome message.

Auto log out after an hour or maybe more of inactivity might be handy for those of us who use cafe's, even dev himself left his account logged in once in dnc i hear :p

    I Concur.
    A time-out thingy would be nice :o

i disagree coz i only really log in on 1 computer.

if it goes ahead, a tickbox in option for each users preference would b good (as suggested b4)

Dosen't cookies take care all that logging in when u return to the board type thing.

As for logging out, i think there is already a timeout function involved as it seems to log me out if the page is open for a period of time with me doing anythink

well, im in a horrible position. In work i use 10 different machines to look at boards and i always forget to log out. whereas at home its obviously always the same machine, and im too lazy to type my login every time.
    HELP!

If such a thing were implemented, I'm sure it wouldnt be that difficult to make it optional and available in user cp.

how bout a popup window that appears when the user logs IN, thay way the user is reminded even before he/she starts posting

    user logs in
    user sees popup window
user says "ooooo i must not forget to logout"
    user logs out

    TAA DAA

of course it probably works better when closing window for boards.ie but i wana be different

Who about a 60-second pop-up before it automatily logs you out <
    not wonderful idea.

Or force the system to only allow logged-in status from one machine at a time. That way when you use another machine at work or log-in in a different building, the original log-in becomes invalid.

would it be too annoying to require the users password everytime he/she wants to post ?

could include the password field under the reply body field.

    OO OOO

have it as an option to members, i would want it nehoo

I'd hate to be logged out after a while, or have to enter in my password for each post; I invent very long unique passwords for each place I'm registered, and have no chance of ever remembering it without copying and pasting from an email each time. ;)
