Why did only Daschle get an Anthrax letter? Was he outspoken about something to do with the middle east?

Seems a bit strange that only one of them got a letter and North Dakota senator at that.

was it proved that the letters have been sent from terrorist organisations? it could be an insider job ala unibomber or something along those lines who had a grudge against Daschle and the american media giants.

He also has stated one of his main aims is to "stop homosexuals organising themselves" in the US.Oh and he campaigned for the use of nuclear weapons during the gulf war. Damn fundamentalists and fanatics, eh?

On the main question, I don't think Dashcle has been outspoken on the ME, plus he's a Democrat I believe, not that that says too much mind...All in all if the letter was the result of "terrorism" then it's probably indicative of the fact that little differentiation will be made between Democrats and Republicans, all part of the one system and so forth...

I'm from North Dakota, but born in South Dakota. Daschle is from South Dakota. North Dakota's two senators are Byron Dorgan and Kent Contrad. (Byron and Kent are the first names of every second man in North Dakota.) Dorgan (fondly known as "doorknob" is on his third wife) while Conrad is only on his second. Both started political life as North Dakota State Tax Commissioners, as did North Dakota's only Representative, whose name, thankfully, has faded from my memory.

Well the senator was right beside Feingolds office, and oddly enough was vocal in sticking up for the USA act and shooting down Feingolds comments on CNN website.

Amazing fact I wasn't aware of until today.

Anthrax scares happen nearly every week in the US!

Yes there are home grown "terrorists" in the US who threaten people with Anthrax.

Who are these people they threaten? Abortion Clinics.

Amazing nothing is done about that.

I guess the US military can't precison bomb the US to stop people doing that.

Apparently Daschle had been talking about/had been touted as a possible candidate for president in the 2004 election.

I couldn't really care less about where Helms is from, and checking it was very far from my "to do" list. I didn't cut and paste anything about the Senator in question, and I fail to see how where he is from bears any significance to his idiotic, bigoted views.I await for you to tell me exactly how my ignorance and apathy about where Jesse Helms is from makes me blinkered. Not to mention what "argument" I was making.

I'm certainly no fan of Jesse Helms myself. All I was saying was that someone shouldn't be laying all this criticism down while not even knowing where he was from, especially when the reason he was brought up in the first place was because someone thought he was from Daschle's state. To put it bluntly, it makes you look like an idiot if you care that little about getting facts straight.

What has where Helms is from got to do with anything? If he was from NYC, would it make his views any different than if he was from the deep south? No it wouldn't, and your nitpicking is symptomatic of your frustration at the poor esteem you are held in here, and your inability to rid yourself of some of your more, shall we say, embarrassing posts. Seizing on my little "FYI" piece in an effort at cheap points scoring won't make you any more respected around here, though presumably it boosts your ego somewhat.As for getting facts straight, you aren't really justified in using those words, as I didn't get any facts wrong, merely didn't state the fact of where he is from.

I couldn't care less the esteem with which I am held in these boards. You people aren't my friends; I don't even know any of you. I participate in these threads for my own amusement, certainly not to boost my self esteem, but thanx for your concern.
