Anyone any idea when the 8310 or 5510 will be available in Ireland?

We're so slow to get the latest ones..

Though the 8310's been about for a while... is it available anywhere??

afaik it won't be released until eircell/esat roll out gprs - which should be some time late this year. and the roll out is delayed until there is gprs phones - nice circular logic there

I believe Esat are expecting to be getting commercial quantities of Motorola GPRS phones in the next few weeks.

Don't hold your breath. I believe Digifone are quite likely to hold off on the GPRS rollout until next year.

I remember when they once told me that they were due to roll it out in September 2000...

Since my last post I've heard that Eircell are delaying the GPRS rollout until April 2002, as they (or Vodafone) have not agreed/decided upon the handsets they’ll be using.

Usual rumour disclaimers apply to the above.

If it's not ADSL taking a walk, it's GPRS ...

I want to connect my palm m105 to the net, ... I've got a 3330, but it looks as though it's not gonna be possible with this phone...

    or is it?

And if I was to upgrade to a nicer phone, I'd want to do it properly, and the 8310 sure is a sweet little but of digicandy.

Ah well, I'll get on with living I suppose, and let my dreams fall by the way..

It appears that Digifone are likely to pip Eircell to the post with GPRS. They're due, at present, to have a limited launch of GPRS at the end of January.

In both cases, however, Nokia may not be seen for a while. One of the greatest problems both operators are having is with the quality of handsets and the Nokia handsets appear to have been the greatest offenders in this regard.

A Motorola phone is likely to be the first released.

well i've used all of the ericsson gprs phones and they are v.nice
they are also available in just about every other country except here. i don't know where eircell and esat are getting these problems from.
gprs rollout takes v.little new kit.
just some updated data lines and a GGSN in the msc/bsc stations.

but then again we live in ireland and nothing can ever be done quickly or even on time.
