I sent the contract form last thursday and the dude in the shop said "ehh, about 3 to 5 days". 5 days, no card.. if it doesnt arrive tomorrow I'll tear all my hair out and paint my head luminous green. (i.e. go mental) Just hope I sent it to the correct place :) (address in West Lothian or some place like that).

I neeeeeed my ddddddddddddigital... "No Sky and no TV make rymus something something..."

Well firstly the dude in the shop should have sent the contract for you and secondly did he phone in the card order? If he did he should have an order no. which you can reference with sky.

    And nope once again.

This is giving me bad vibes...the sort of feeling that TVs will be displaying the channels in hologram form before I get my card.. ooohh my head...

Not to mention porn movies :)

anyway, got the sky problem sorted.. turned out it was a miscommunication problem all along.Sky were waiting for me to get the dish installed before they sent the card and the installers were waiting until I got my card to install the dish.. Had to fill out a new contract and hopefully I should have my card by friday/monday :)

If sky waited for the dish to be installed before sending out a card then nobody would ever get one. Imagine asking an installer to make two visits at the rates they pay. I think someone in sky has spun you a yarn here, all's it takes is a contract no. and a phone call to order a card.

right, official update on the sky scandal.

I have my card *hooray* and when I rang the shop to get the installer down I was told the following (after the second phone call to the shop mind u)

"Ehh, were out of equipment at the moment. Were getting more in on Monday and the installer will pick it up then. The installer will ring you then to arrange a day to do the work."

And this is the bit that got me

"It'll probably be around 3 weeks before the installer rings you"

I held back on the expletives knowing that any abuse I give the shop staff would only make the situation worse for myself. 3 weeks? Surely this isint normal... methinks I'll be ringing the shop on monday afternoon to remind them I'm still alive.

3 weeks is not normal. Most Sky agents will give you a 10 day lead time max. But in saying that i was waiting 15 days.

You have the card and the contract with sky is signed.....so ring sky and tell them.....then ask for a list of other dealers as you dont want to wait 3 weeks.

3 weeks is a long time in Sky time....like you could have viewed the same film at least 10 times:D

Alas I know. I'm going to ring the shop on Tuesday and raise hell to get the installer down to me post-haste! If they say they cant, I'll cancel my contract, get my 20 quid back and take my business elsewhere (as I see many agents offering a 'speedy' one week wait, granted that 5 of those days are spent waiting for the card).

I went to another agent (my local one) to see if he would do the job for me quicker, but he fed me some line about the card I have being tied to the agent so he would loose out if he did the job. I was going to bring up that he'd still get my £60 for doing the work, but I didnt bother.. At least I think he was feeding me a line?!?

As I say, come Tuesday morning if u hear a lot of shouting coming from the Cork area you'll know I've been in contact with the agent :)

He was telling the truth, if he installed using the card you have he would lose £310 plus vat. Not good business

Indeed not. Since my last rant I've been in contact with the agent again and been told that the equipment has arrived (about a week late mind you) and fingers crossed I may have the installer at my place tomorrow.
