(Win)modem under linux

    well it doesn't say its a winModem anywhere, but im beginning to think thats what it is.
    it came with a new Dell, and shows up under windows as "MPD3900V-W Modem".
    is this a winModem, and therefore impossible to use under linux?

    look at the info re the modem on the website
    and it says that its a 3com fax/data modem for Windows

    the best way to find out is to try and install the thing. Linux will inform you if its a winmodem
