Whatever you're happiest with I'd guess, it's up to you. In this context I'll assume you're not talking about parental/brotherly/religious 'love' though.

Nothing lasts forever! If you're happy while things last, that's enough.

Ah... the age old question!

To actually try to define "true love" is a bad idea really,- it does love a severe dis-service to try to form a definition of it using the inadequacies of the English language.

Some might believe the "love is..." cartoons; Some might clinically say that it's the "ultimate feeling of connection and desire between two people"... some might support the idea put forward in this recent thread in the Science board. Personally, I don't rightly know 100% and refuse to try to define it, as I believe that by definition, it IS undefinable... but maybe that's just the romantic in me again :rolleyes: ... Needless to say, you'll know it when you feel it.

I'm a romantic... and I like to believe that love can last forever, - beyond time, beyond death... and yes, to be true love, it really should be requited. Although it is, of course, possible to be truly in love with someone who doesn't return your feelings, - it's a bit fake alright.

My parents married 6 months after meeting each other.
They have been 38 years married without any significant rows or breakups. Sometimes when they look at each other you can still see a blazing love for each other and for their family in their eyes.

If thats not something special, I dont know what is.
