Ive noticed that most laptops are 15 upwards and it seems only apple do the 12" model at an affordable prise. The sonys are way out of my range. Any laptops this sinze at about 1000 euro?

im tiny i cant be carrying around massive laptops!! lol

I've noticed the same and am increasingly leaning towards getting an ibook with the student discount - less than a grand :D

anyone else know some reasonably priced pc lappies / subnotebooks?

http://jes.de has some but so dang pricey.

I will sell you my Toshiba Portégé M100 which has a 12" screen, weighs 1.7kg...Intel Centrino 1.2Ghz, still under warranty until June 2006.

You can have it for a grand. Screen is only 10 months old and it will have a brand new keyboard as well. I will throw in a laptop bag as well.

Check out the complete spec here

first of all get a mac. They are exactly what computers should be.

If however you insist using windows I was directed to www.go-mv.co.uk on this site. My girlfriend wanted a win laptop for the same reasons as you and at a similar price. It arrived last week, (took about 10-12 days) and seems like a good deal. She got an upgrade too and it didn't seem to hoold the process up. the sceen is sweet and everything seems to work well.

still not as good as my ibook though.

Thanks for the toshiba offer but i dont really wanna spend a grand on a two year old laptop in case it breaks in less than 9 months!!

With an Apple laptop is it still possible to avail of all the free download software and video/music etc? Really wanna buy the 12" Apple but some friends have been tryin to steer me away from it.

I don't have vast computer knowledge or needs and just need the laptop for music, photos, skype and it needs to be portable.

Yes, yes, the only thing the Apple won't really do too well is games.

I use a 12" ibook as my portable and I think it's great.
I use it for office stuff, surfing, email, systems administration, music, watching dvds ...

it's dead light, over 4 hours battery life and very easy to connect to other networks (i.e. wireless in airports or whatever).

i used an iBook when i was in america, and i fell in love with it, i felt different when i had it, i felt cleaner, plus it was very responsive. My first laptop was a powerbook 100, so we will be reunited :D
Its on my list of after christmas buys.

The range of games for Mac might not be as good as for PC- but you can play them fine. My g/f has SIMs (about 20 different versions) on her Powerbook- and I play Call-of-Duty, Civ and Age of Empires on mine. You'll even pick up Mac games here on Boards fairly regularly.

    Mac IS BAD for gaming.
Really , pc is better if u want to play games!!
High resolution -allrightonpc- , on mac -bad-
Try to run America's Army: Operations on a mac , doesnt do it quit good
Try to run Day of Defeat: Source, doesnt do good on a mac
    ...
If u want a laptop for gaming , => get a pc (laptop) but no mac.

By the way, MAC is waaay to expensive , for what u get!!
    u can get Notebooks , 17" , 1024mbRAM , with 100GIGS for 1199€!!
