The demo pods have started to appear, there is one in Gamestop on Henry Street and there will be pods in Game and the remaining Gamestops before mid November. You can play Call of Duty 2 on a 18' LCD TV with HD support. So try before you buy!

Since when was there a Gamestop in Liffey Valley. I was in Game today in Liffey Valley and they didn't have any demo machines.

Played CoD2 in Gamestop, Liffey Street today and I wasn't impressed. Graphically it's barely above Xbox shooters like Doom III and Farcry.

I played King Kong and CoD2 myself and I really wasn't overly impressed. I don't think they took full advantage of the capabilities of the console. It's usually the case that the launch games are pretty similar to the current gen games. Wait a couple of months and you'll see the real gems.

no liam , i got side tracked in dixons today and bought a Samsung LE32R51BDX LCD screen when i found out they had them in the back of the store :D

    and i have spent the whole day watching sky + dvd's + drinking ( it's a hard life ).

hopefully things are quite for me tommorow and i get to try it out ;)

just remember that the games you see on release will barely show what the machine can do. its not gonna be pushed properly until next year. i think call of duty looks very smooth on it but king kong looks like a ps2 game. terrible. wish that wasn't on the demo!
i work in gamestop on liffey STREET k-tric....

was in gamestop liffey street today and have to agree with hutch i thought king kong was very poor and i thought it looked very dark ( too dark ) in places.

cod2 looks very nice to me and apart from some poor shooting on my part :o i will add it to the 3 games i intend to pick up on release day.

it was a shame pgr3 was not a playable demo as i really wanted to get my hands on that , speaking of getting your hands on things i would have liked to have gotten a better feel for the joypad and have been able to hold it fully in my hands.

still all's good and roll on the 2nd .

i'd say your best bet would be smyths or gamestop if there are one's near you.

i was in game blanchardstown on sunday and in game henry street today and there was'nt a 360 demo pod in sight , the demo pads i looked at today where in gamestop henry street + liffey street and in smyths beside maplins just off the end off henry street at the caple street end.

Xtra-Game stores have theirs in if your out renting a movie or something.

I was in Xtra vision in Navan last night and they had there Xbox 360 set up, I thought the games looked good but did not have that wow factor i was able to play around with the unit for a short while.

I had thought that Project gotham Racing 3 was playable but its only a video but that did impress me.

Like what a few others where saying though It made me want the Samsung screen more than the 360 that screen is very clear and has an excellant picture, I'll probably still get a 260 and I was impressed with the way microsoft set up the dispay units it reallys lets you get an idea of what the console runs like which is very user friendly.

Yesterday I played CoD at Gamestop in Henry street. Cancelled my pre-order - couldn't see enough difference to the better games on my PC. Certainly not enough to warrant €470.

I got to see a full 360 system for the first time yesterday, not the pod system but a full out of the box system. Machine looks sweet but has anyone else seen the power supply? Notice that they haven't shown any pictures of the power unit? Same also goes for the ps3.

They are huge! It is about the size of a pc power box only external to the machine. Word has it the ps3 one is even bigger than the 360 one!!!

Not alone is the power box for the 360 huge but it also eats electricity like it
    was goin out of style
Power consumption on the things is shocking
Was playing king kong all last week at a friends place in NYC not jawdropping
    but still good.
Better graphics just about than current xbox titles which bodes well in 6-9
months when developers begin to utilise the extra cpus etc

oh and did i hear correct, that ffx1 requires the hd to play ?
would be some pain in the arse to those who buy the core console at xmas

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,235 ✭✭✭iregk

yes some games will require the hd to play them. to be honest, i dont know why anyone would go for the core system, complete waste of money get the full shebang or dont get it at all. But yest the new systems have monster power packs and will eat the juice.
