They have a pinicalle version and a linksys one in pc world, around the 200 mark i think. I was trying to decide on that sort of thing also. Seems to stream all kinds of video. Think u might need Windows XP Media Edition installed though.

Cut some slack, about 75% of all questions asked in this forum could be answered using google. Anyhow the OP clearly has some research done, and would like some suggestions, recommendations and advice. Google doesnt always provide that...

I've used one system before ... that didn't work too great for me whether it was a graphics card out issue .. or a telly issue I never found out .. it was a friends system he bought from aldi ... used the standard AV out if your graphics card has them and AV in for the telly ... It didn't work for me in that all I could get was crappy enough B&W .. but worked great for him .. maybe they'll have them back at some stage

I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experiences with wireless systems like this .. makes models they've used ... no I don't want to google for it as I'm hoping someone on boards will have some previous experience / can recommend a system

If there was such a solution it would save me the hassle and expense of buying CDR's.

The other night I was thinking to myself about a device that would make it possible to stream multimedia content via PC to TV.

So I was thinking about a buying a 'Barebones Shuttle' type PC and adding a wireless NIC and using a wireless router to 'Broadcast' the streaming content from my PC to the 'Shuttle' box and then on to the TV with a Wireless adapter in the back of the TV.

All my movies could then be viewed on the TV without the bother of using S-video each time.

If only the TV I have was a 'Digital' type TV with the RJ-45 jack, it goes against that idea but is another answer to this.

So maybe there is a all-in-one type device that can manage all that without the need for a PC to process all that information afterall the idea is supposed to be wireless with the only cable being the power cable.

One advantage is that you could 'Capture' movies and what-not from the TV.

Anyone else got a better idea?

... and will steam on tv?

    He he....steam on!!

Ok joke over - so here is what I do - I have all my videos as divx on a main machine in the house - lets call it a media server ( but its just a pc ( amd 2600+ ) with 2 hard disks, ( 250 gigs ) running xp.

Then downstairs under the tv I have another pc ( amd 2500 barton ) - with a small 40 gig hard drive and 512 ram, a wireless card and a ATI AIW 9600 which displays the computer on the tv.

They both are connected to my SMC Barricade router - so when I want to watch a movie I just open my fav player ( bsplayer ) on the pc under the tv, go on the network and run the file from the machine upstairs - which streams ( or steams :) ) the data down ......waaaala

    It works for me .....

Ok, guys seriously, there is a device that you can buy from the likes of PC World or Dixons (Shudder at mention of both retail chain names) that you can buy that you simply plug one of the dongles into the PC (if it has tv out) and plug into the TV somewhere else in the house and it transmits the video wirelessly. Infact a mate of mine has one, he can give you details on it. If you wanna contact him on here send him a PM.

    His username is tallus.

Yea im starting to get annoyed with that myself. Google doesent give you personal accounts/recomendations/advise which could be the difference of spending money on a product that isint what the person wants or is generally just bad.

Especially when its not a common product, and is pretty specific.

That ShowCentre dealy is not bad. I used to do tech support for them and it was one of the products with the least teething problems.

Philips do a product called the Streamium, I think a couple of people on this board have one. Check out reviews on it from Google anyway - it's looks like a nifty little thing.

I answered the original question honestly, promptly, and concisely. so.. :p
My personal recommendation would be for the Sony N.M.R., but it's not an option unless you have VAIO Media ..

There's numerous systems out there. My personal recommendation would be to hold off for <= 1 year; at which point, I believe the market will be flooded with them..

Just for people still interested in this.
I have not been able to find anywhere apart from microaid who do the showcenter 200.

PCWorld do the 1000g although when you ask them have they for the 200 they politely say yes and show you to it and then you find out it is the 1000g they are selling.

AFAIK the 200 is close to the €275 mark and the 1000g is €189.99.

Main difference between the two is the 200 has integrated 11g antennae, front USB etc and the 1000g uses an 11g pcmcia card with no USB in front.

    Tip.

    Try this one.

I'm using the Sony VAIO media and it's bloody nightmare to set up, but when it's going, it's good!
