Christmas Present?????

    OK,

Sorry to freak you all out as I know it's a long time before Christmas but:

What do you get a guy for Christmas when at the time you'll only be going out for about 2 months?

I'm hopeless at presents, I normally just get them to pick something & I pay for it but that really ruins the surprise so:

Don't think he's really into music
    He likes football / hurling
He wears nice clothes but I haven't a clue about fashion (so wouldn't like to risk buying something that he thinks is horrible)

    Any ideas?

Football Jersey? May be more than you want to spend though?

So your going out with him a week and a half at the moment.

    Awwwh.

We're 25 so we're not talking pocket money, but how much even is normal to spend? €100???? Too little, too much??????

Not sure if I've ever seen him wear a football jersey, & if he does like them, would he not have them already????

Thanks for your suggestions so far!

    Good maths Bluetonic!!!!
Well we actually hooked up a month before that but only decided to go out a few weeks ago.
Have known him for quite a while though so he's not a stranger.

Buy him some piece of clothing you think he'd look good in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭Bluetonic

Don't bother getting him anything, tell him you don't want to devalue the relationship by putting a value on your love for him :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭iguana

Take a look on www.boystuff.co.uk Some of the stuff can be pretty stupid, and some is expensive but there are some good gift ideas. (I'm always tempted by the twister duvet cover.)

I'm not sure if I'd spend a €100 on someone I was just dating a few months. It might freak them out. I'd go for something around the €50-70 mark. I definetely wouldn't go above €100.

If you felt like getting him something more you could get yourself some really nice underware and tell him it's a part of his present!;)

just buy a family size pack of durex :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Yeah, I think the lingerie would work. Tell him to come over to yours. When he arrives, text him and say the door is open, and his present is in the bedroom, and there you are, in your skimpies.

A present that you'll both enjoy.

I love xmas and birthdays and dont mind spending a bit of cash, if you have €100-150 budget, you can buy things that people consider mega expensive, but aren't really, like TV's, DVD players, Digital Camera, Mobile phone...... I have bought my boyfriend almost all of those items.
You can get a helicopter ride around dublin for €120, or a day an mondelloe park....for €150

Yea, but wouldn't it be V embarrassing for him if I got him any of those things Audge if he got a a CD, or a bottle of perfume or something???

Actually same applies in the opposite direction, oh sh!t, I hate buying presents, I'm crap at it!

Buy him the most powerfull torch you can find.
    Everyone loves a good torch.
I have one here that is so bright it's like a floodlight, it would blind the eyes out of you... and when you shine it out the window at night you can see the powerfull beam shooting its brilliant cone across the neighbourhood.
It's damn cool... all guys love torches. (I'm a 25-y/o guy aswell, just to give you some perspective)

hehehe, I must try cutting out some cardboard silhouettes and see if I can shine the batman logo around the place. :D
So get him a good torch and a crate of beer... keep him amused for hours!
Lots of little things are always nice too.

If it was me, an ideal present from a girlfriend would be an adventure day - be it Race cars, flying lessons, helicopter lessons, rock climbing, whitewater rafting.... And then finish the day with the lingerie suggestion. That would be the best Christmas present. A good meal thrown in there too.

That's the best idea I've read in ages.....I'm off to find a batman image that I can print out and then sellotape onto a torch !

Get him a €50 voucher for paddy power or something along those lines. Everyone loves a little flutter, especially around christmas.

Have I ever told you you're my idol?

OP: Price-wise, try to get him something that seems expensive but isnt. That way if he get's something expensive for you it'll seem like you spent a similar amount on him but if he get's you something small you're safe in the knowledge that your present didn't cost too much.

Try the gadget shop in the Jervis Centre for quirky, fun, unusual stuff he migth like
