Did anyone see the MTV awards last night? I thought Borak or whatever alter ego he was using was hillarious BUT... I found his Freddie Mercury gag a bit much, for anyone who didnt see it he came out on stage in a tight yellow thing, not unlike something that Freddie did indeed wear on stage on occasion and he said "Look at me Im Freddie Mercury, oh no wait... Hes dead, He died of AIDS" and he didnt say it in a sympathetic way either, it was more a jokey childish sort of way.. almost Chris Rock-esque... I didnt know wheather to take it as an anti aids thing (which if that was the case fair enough) or just him trying to get cheap laughs

Was I hearing right? Did he announce Coldplay on stage as Greenday?

He did and then did vice versa. It was intentional.

Yeah definetely announced Coldplay when Greenday were coming on.

Suppose some people would find the Freddie Mercury gag a bit much, personally I found it funny.

That was Chris Martin. I actually think he is very funny.

The dancing Cazak men who went on and on and on got a bit annoying after a while I personally think his Austrian Gay Fashion guy is much funnier, pity he didnt do the awards as him...

I love the TV incarnations of Borat and Bruno, but dont think it worked last night in the little snippets I saw. Still, I have to applaud MTV for trying something genuinely funny. Better luck next year.

    Agreed!
Bruno is brilliant, and would have suited the MTV audience much better.
Did you catch any of the shows on MTV in the run up to it?
Had one where he was at Daytona Beach (US) with a load of spring breakers.
He was interviewing 5 wrestler jocks outside their caravan on the beach... getting them to shout and go nuts to camera.... then get them to show their butts and pose.
Then he singled on the biggest jock... got him to say "and a big hello... to everyone in Gay TV land" (or something like that).
    The jock went nuts!! :D
"what do you mean Gay TV???"

I had to laugh at 'Herald AM' referring to Kazakhstan (his supposed homeland) as a 'tiny' country when it is 40 times the size of Ireland!

    I'd ride him

is this complimenting or mocking his presenting style??

Some of it was funny, some of it was complete crap. The awards were a load of shi'ite anyway.

In the run up shows when he had people singing throw the jew down the well had me in stitches

I watched Borat and Bruno night on MTV2 instead of that award show nonsense. One of the funniest men alive, absolute comedy genius.

I myself prefer bruno, but im sure it was a bit close to home at an event like that, also borat has a bigger reputation and is more known across europe and the states.

The funniest ever Borat episode was when he was signing the song about the Jews in a southern US bar.
" through the jew down the well,
So my country can be free,
you must grab him by his horns,
and then we have a big party"

All the americans were getting really into it. It was great.

But Bruno is the best "vas up, being gay is the new coolest thing, thats why i have come to the gayest part of the usa, alabama!". then proceeding to come on to anti gay activists.

My favourite bit was with the wrestling team on Spring Break on the beach, getting them to be wild and show their "pectoral muscles" and "ashcas" (arses). Before asking one of them to say:

"Coming to you from Daytona Beach, Spring Break, on Austria's Gay TV!"

    The reaction was priceless.
