Home Movies onto DVD

Bought and installed the Tuner Card
Copied my old 8mm home movies through it onto the PC
    They are in .WMV format
They are approx 350MB in size

What format should they be in before trying to burn them onto a DVD that I can play back on my Panasonic DVD player attached to the TV?

And which is the best (easiest) DVD burning S/W to use on the PC to acheive this?

The PC is a fairly new DELL so it has a DVD burner built in.

    Thanks
