Looks like I'm in the market for a new telephone after the wife decided to play with the old one in the bath!
Anyone got any ideas where to pick up a decent dect phone with speaker phone onboard. The last one was a panasonic and was quite good (except for the obvious lack of underwater technology:rolleyes: )
Online or in the shops would be great. Thanks in advance.

Looking at replacing ours too. Same problem as yourself, except ours went in the sink as opposed to the bath. Had been looking in argos for ideas etc. They have some in the the main catalogue and add on booklets ranging from about €50 up.

I got a pair of DECT cordless phones recently in Aldi for €49. They (or Lidyl) have them on offer every couple of months. Atlantic Homecare had similar type phones for around the same money. --- no scuba kits with any of them!!!!!!

Try Argos or Power City. These phones are a lot cheaper now than a couple of years ago. You would be better buying 2 instead of 1 as there isn't a pile of difference in the cost

Problem I find with many DECT phones is that since they have increased size of LCD screens the numbers are difficult to read i.e. thin black blocky old-fashioned numbers and letters. Anyone recommend a phone that doesn't suffer from this problem.
    TIA..

I got a pair of good cordless phones in Atlantic recently for about 40 yoyos (BT Model). Great phone, can store names and numbers etc. They are selling the same ones in Woodies on the Naas road but not sure if the price is the same,

not sure if they float either!

Sorry but what does DECT mean?

Picked up Binatone Activity 2000 in Argos about a month ago for €50 or €60 if that. No complaints. One upstairs, one downstairs. I use them with my Blueface VoIP service.

Yeah its brilliant with the old upstairs - downstairs phones. Whenever I want a cup of tea I just ring down to her good self. I normally get a mouthful and its not tea I'm talking about:D

Sounds like a good idea but generally she's upstairs, in the bath with the jasus phone:D

Just make sure that the phones you buy are actually DECT and not just "digital" phones.
