Did I though? In late-ish position I am not folding 99 for 10% of my stack (I know 10% is a lot to call when looking for a set but I could also win with a bet if he misses). Obviously my main priority is hitting a set but other than that the flop is about the best I can hope for. His range can be quite wide here but I can't see him on a set 55,22 & 33 are not raising hands (mind you I was shocked to see 78:D ). I am only fearing TT-AA which is four hands. His half pot bet out of position was begging to be re-raised but my gut feeling was that I was ahead and I didn't particular want him to fold. When he bets the turn I feel he would bet smaller if he was strong as there where not any big draws and he would be looking to be re-raised. It looked to me that he was trying to push me off the pot. I was confident by then I was ahead so I thought I might as well get my chips in. I was astonished he had the cheek to criticise my play with 99 when he had soooo overplayed 78 soooted.

As it happens I played for 5 hours and went out just before the bubble when my AK was beaten by AK

I was just kidding. I play the hand exactly the same way as far as the turn. Raising the flop means you'll commit a butload of chips so I think calling and evaluating the turn is fine here. Jamming the turn was pretty ballsy though. wp.

Ty Nicky. Not really ballsy though, a check would have me worried more than his bet. Once he bet I was pretty sure I was ahead.I have not shown strength by raising at all so he thinks he can push me off the pot when no obvious scare card comes.

Really? You think someone with TT-AA wouldn't play it the same way?

Some people will but it was deep in the tournie so I generally would give most people the respect of a good player. If you have AA-TT and someone flatcalls on a non drawing board like this in a raised pot what hand range do you put them on? I am not drawing so I must have some kind of hand. I would still be pretty confident if I had TT-AA in his position but I wouldn't be going broke with it to a flopped set. I am more likely to have 22,55,33 or 77 than him. It may be conservative but I would check call the turn & river if I had TT-AA in his position.

don't see anything particularly unusual about this hand, I thought u played it very well and he played it terribly. i'd probably raise the flop myself, but i still like how u played the turn.
