ITV confirms it will join Sky Digital
ITV will finally be added to the Sky Digital within the next few weeks, the broadcaster has confirmed. Using three transponders, it will transmit all 16 regional versions of the service on satellite. According to press reports, the channels will be available free-to-air, but will now show UEFA Champions League football coverage for contractual reasons. The ITV regional channels will use 16 separate EPG numbers, likely to be in the 800s, plus channel number 103 to direct viewers to the services. Test transmissions have already begun. [Sep 24]

Few weeks? I thought ITV wasn't gonna be available until end of November. Also first time I heard that they have begun testing. Where did you source your information, Danielle? All regions being FTA is great for us ROI viewers!:) ChampionsLeague can always be watched on our own commercial channel, TV3!:D

    C'mon Galway!:D

I'm a little sceptical about What Satellite's accuracy in this case, because they claim that ITV are already testing, which they are not.

Having said that, it is only a matter of time according to many other sources (which have already been qouted in previous threads).

Testing can mean many things besides using the transponder
ie they could be getting ready, but not to the stage that we can see it yet

No news on Channel Four as yet. I would prefer it to ITV any day. Hopefully we will get it as a Christmas prezzie from Sky:rolleyes:

Sixteen regions? I thought there were fifteen. Does this mean that there will be a slot for ITV2 then?
