Mischa Barton Leading IFTA Red Carpet Glamour

    The OC’ star Mischa Barton will lead the International glamour on the Red Carpet at the 2005 Irish Film and Television Awards taking place this weekend. Mischa will appear alongside a host of International Style Icons gathering in Dublin to celebrate outstanding Irish talent.


    Other names confirmed for the star studded event are red carpet veterans Sinéad Cusack and Oscar award winning actress Vanessa Redgrave. Also stepping out on Saturday night will be Andrea Corr, Samantha Mumba, Orla Brady, Eva Birthistle, Tatianna Ouliankina, Renee Weldon, Kerry Katona, Caprice, Gráinne Seoige, Aoife Ní Thuairisg, ‘Coronation Street’ star Sally Lindsay, Aisling O’Sullivan, Rachel Pilkington, Caroline Morahan, Pamela Flood, Kathryn Thomas, Rosanna Davison and many more.

    Hollywood starlet and leading style icon, Mischa Barton, is one of the film and television industry’s rising stars. Having won the hearts of viewers in Fox’s ‘The OC’, Mischa has just completed shooting ‘Decameron: Angels & Virgins’ with ‘Star Wars’ star Hayden Christensen and will soon be seen alongside Danny DeVito, Paul Rudd and Liza Minnelli in the comedy, ‘The OH In Ohio’. Mischa is delighted to be part of the Irish Film & Television Awards, especially with her strong Irish ties. Mischa, whose mother Nuala is Irish, will be flying in especially to attend the Awards ceremony and present a key award.

    Talented Irish actresses Orla Brady, Eva Birthistle, The Clinic stars Aisling O’Sullivan and Rachel Pilkington and Anne Marie Duff are also expected to cause a stir on the Red Carpet. Orla Brady made her mark with Irish Audiences in the feature ‘A Love Divided’ and is well known for her starring role in the TV series ‘Proof’. The Irish actress is currently making waves in the US, with roles in the ABC series ‘Empire’, the NBC sci-fi series ‘Revelations’ and an appearance in the popular ‘Nip/Tuck’. Eva Birthistle who won an IFTA in 2004 for Best Actress in Film will next be seen in Neil Jordan’s ‘Breakfast On Plut’o and alongside ‘Lord of The Rings’ star Billy Boyd in the comedy ‘Save Angel Hope’. ‘Shameless’ star Anne Marie Duff is in the running for a second Irish Film & Television Awards for her role in the Channel 4 hit series. The Irish actress won critical acclaim for her performance in ‘The Magdalene Sisters’ and has just taken on the powerful role of Elizabeth I in the BBC drama ‘The Virgin Queen’.

    Andrea Corr and Samantha Mumba, both with blossoming film careers, will also be taking to the Red Carpet on the night to celebrate outstanding Irish talent and achievement. Andrea will be hoping to take home the Best Actress in Film IFTA for her role in ‘The Boys & Girl From County Clare’. Other international stars who will shine amongst the glamour and excitement of the Awards include Kerry Katona, who has just wrapped the second series of ‘Showbands’, Supermodel and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star Caprice and Sally Lindsay who plays Corrie’s favourite barmaid Shelley.

    Some of Ireland’s most glamorous ladies will also be stepping out in style at the Awards. O2 TV Personality of the Year nominees, Gráinne Seoige will be wearing a stunning gown by Irish designer Sharon Cunningham and ‘Paisean Faisean’s’ Aoife Ní Thuairisg will be donning a Vera Wang creation on the night. The stars of ‘Off The Rails’, Caroline Morahan and Pamela Flood are also expected to dazzle on the Red Carpet along with former Miss World Rosanna Davison.

    The Irish Film & Television Awards promises to be a night of glitz, glamour and excitement with Liberty X performing live at the ceremony. ‘Murphy’s Law’ actor James Nesbitt will host the Awards, with veteran actor David Kelly receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. A host of Irish and international stars will join on the night to celebrate outstanding Irish talent. The ceremony will be broadcast live on RTÉ One on Saturday 5th November at 9.30pm and will include all the Red Carpet highlights.
