Down to the last 12 in the southcourt last night. I had 40k other player had 50k and seemed pretty solid. Blinds were 1.5k/3k.
He raised to 9k utg and i called with 1010 in the cutoff all folds.
Flop is 9 high with no suits/connectors. he raises 10, i just call. Turn is a rag he bets 20k putting me all in.
    What to do????????????

If it was me I would have reraised him all in on the flop. When you call the 10K you think you are ahead but by just calling you are giving him a free card. There is every possibility he has a higher pair but you have already put nearly 50% of your chips in the pot. You would have 21K left if you fold (7bbs). I would feel its not enough so get them in, but I would much prefer the other player to be doing the calling after I had reraised all in on the flop.

Yeh, hate the smooth call Duffer, puts you in no man's land unless you hit the perfect flop.

Either push, or fold (considering you recognise player is very solid)

I was at the table and was really surprised you folded the Tens Shane. Although I wasn't paying much attention to the hand your oponent is actually quite a decent player who isn't easy to read. He is one of the few players at the southcourt with the ability to make continuation bets with overcards out of position so on the flop you have to use whatever ever info you have to decide on pushing or folding.

Have to say I'm probably pushing on this one. How may get paid and whats the average stack?

I would have folded this one preflop, going on the info provided.

Once you call the flop you have to call the turn

If I'm going with this preflop I'm either going over the top then or on the flop. If for some reason I didn't go over the top on the flop I'm sticking with it on the turn. If you thought your hand was good preflop it should still be good now.
I think the optimal play is to call preflop, make sure there are no overcards on the flop as you can still get away cheap enough, and then push once you get the raggedy flop you want.

I don't think you are giving UTG due credit here for his pre-flop raise.

I am basing my fold on the info provided, last 12 of a reasonable standard tourney, player acknowledged as being a good solid player with a healthy stack, willing to raise into another healthy stack.

Alarm bells are ringing for me. I'd let the 10's go here.

When he bet 10k post flop it looked like a standard continuation bet, he had to do it. but when he put me all in after the turn, i was thinking queens or jacks. I reckoned i was behind and let them go. He had AQ.
I had 20k left, i taught that it would be enough to get me to the final table and then doubled up it'd be a half resonable stack. But I Didn't manage the second part(Ta Nicky)
