DOVES AND MORE FOR CARLOW’S MUSIC FACTORY
Sensational news for music fans in Carlow and its surrounding areas, top indie act Doves have been confirmed to play Carlow’s Music Factory on Tuesday 20th December. Doves are known for their large, epic sound, and have quite rightly been compared to contemporaries such as Radiohead as well as classic Manchester bands such as the Stone Roses, New Order and The Smiths.
Their debut album Lost Souls (2000) was received with rapturous critical acclaim, and was nominated for the Mercury Music Awards, which they lost to fellow Mancunian Badly Drawn Boy, for whom they had previously acted as an occasional backing band. Doves' second album The Last Broadcast was released two years later, reached #1 in the UK album chart and was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. This record contained the track "There Goes the Fear", which reached #3 in the UK singles chart despite only being released for one day before it was deleted. Their third studio album, "Some Cities", was released in just last February and went straight to #1 in the UK album chart, preceded by the single "Black And`White Town," which reached #6 in the UK singles charts. To have Doves play The Music Factory establishes it as one of the countries premier venues. Add to this the fact that The Music Factory will also play host to The James Taylor Quartet on Thursday Nov. 3rd, Gerry Fish And The Mudbug Club on Friday 25TH Nov, Paddy Casey, Saturday 26th Nov, Dirty Sanchez Tuesday 29th Nov, The Proclaimers on Wednesday 7th Dec and another sensational indie act in the shape of Embrace on Saturday 10th December, with many many more acts to be confirmed in the near future, and it makes for truly sensational reading. Be assured of one thing, these acts will have fans travelling from all over the country, so, if you fancy some if this get on the case now. Tickets are now on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets nationwide, as well as www.ticketmaster.ie For online bookings, credit cards bookings at 0818 719300 and tickets at Rainbow Records on Tullow Street, Carlow.
    End

Yes, i will certainly be going to Doves but I think calling Embrace 'sensational' is stretching it!
