Since the mods here aren't doing their jobs, I'll do it for them :p

BSG has gotten a third season. While it's no Season 10 like 'Stargate: SG-1', it's a good thing. It's been very entertaining so far and, whilst I don't think it's the sort of show that needs many many seasons (in the same way B5 didn't), I want to see it for a while longer. Here's an article URL="http://www.syfyportal.com/article.php?id=2094"]link[/URL:
To those who were worried that the Battlestar Galactica's journey to Earth might be cut short ... no need to fear any longer.

TV Week is reporting that "Battlestar Galactica" has officially earned a third season on SciFi Channel, joining "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis" in earning renewals over the last two weeks.

The series did see a slight drop in its weekly viewership over the course of the show's second season, with 1.5 million viewers tuning in compared to 1.7 million that watched the show last year on average in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Overall, nearly 3 million people tune in to see the show each week.

"Galactica" did help SciFi beat other cable channels on Friday night, including TNT, USA Network and Spike.

"Battlestar Galactica" is getting ready to launch the second half of its second season in January to complete its first 20-episode year. While SciFi maintains a standard of 20-episode seasons, it was not immediately clear how many episodes SciFi had ordered, since the network was not yet ready to comment on the renewal.

"Battlestar Galactica" stars Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, and was developed by Ronald D. Moore. The renewal will put the series past the number of episodes made for both the 1978 original series as well as the later "Galactica 1980."

Good news, but lets hope they get at least a 13 episode run, I dont like the fact that they havnt commented on it, while they have on the 2 stargate shows. Lets live in hope!!

Mods have feelings too you know ;) ... or at least it's rumoured that they may possibly, in certain circumstances, under the right conditions, become involved enough to form opinions on stuff, and things, and sometimes even get so emotionally invested as to warrant an actual, honest to god, gen-u-ine feeling. Kind of. Sort of. *cough*

Can't say I've ever experienced that tho

No need to be smart Ixoy :p

It is great news indeed. I hope they're able to maintain the high level of entertainment for the next 30 episodes (remainder of season 2 and all of season 3).

Stargate is like the Cornation street of scfi series; it'll never go away :D

So, once again we have another studio stepping forward to rip off customers by selling only half of season 2 at the price of a full season. :(

And no doubt they'll release some uber-special full season edition a year from now when they've made their money from part 1 and part 2 of season 2.

    Hmm, i think ill pass.
