right, i have an SB Live. that runs fine and isn't a problem. however, i can't get any dos drivers for it.
that means that i can not hear any sound when i play doom. (i just got thy flesh consumed and i haven't played it before so...)
    anybody got any ideas.
i've tried awe 64 and 32 and regular sb16 drivers but they don't work.
    cheers

i wish life was that simple

it's a problem with the pci network controller.

on bootup i get a message
irq not configured - pci network controller on motherboard
irq not configured - pci display controller on motherboard
irq not configured - pci at slot 1 (where the soundcard is)

if i move the card to say slot 3 i just get a the last line with slot 3 instead of slot 1.

was up til 4 last night and have been at this all day today
    disaster

you could try looking in device manager and seeing if anything here is not installed corectly. look for other devices and anything with a red cross beside it
    remove and rebooot
also try removing all the contrllers and reinstalling them
uninstall you network card, remov from tower and try reinstalling everything else, then go back when everything is ok and reinstall the network card
part from that its a system stripe

ahahaha, tomorrow is my last day in work for IBM.
    hurrah!
i think i'll prolly leave after about ohhh 5 minutes smile.gif
