Are these Binoculars any good?

Just saw these binoculars in Aldi. Just wondering if they are any use and is the price reasonable? Is the zoom really "powerful" as they say?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I though you guys would know best.

Wheter they'd be any good or not really depends on what you intend using them for. 10x30 is pretty standard (pretty good too) magnification for non-specialist binoculers. It says that they have high quality optics (v important) but I'm not familiar with the brand so cant say if thats true or not.

For the price you cant go too far wrong but if you want some binos for astronomical use I'd reccomed a visit to an astronomy shop to see what suits your needs.

Hmmm... for €20 you can't expect too much. For night viewing purposes you are better off with 10x50's and would be expected to start spending at least €60+. But for day viewing and for €20 you can't go wrong too much. Can you try it out at the store through a window?

To give you an idea of the "powerfull magnification", its x10.. so something 10 foot away would look like its 1 foot away. The 30 part, is the field of view. Which is quite small..

You're getting 20 euros worth of binocular.

avoid the zoom binoculars if you can - more stuff to go out of focus - and except for the moon all you are going to see are points of lights ( unless you get a scope big enough to look more closely at the planets )

At high zoom handshake will mean you would need to be leaning against something.

can't remember if it was them or lidl that did the fixed focus ones a while back , much better 10x50 IIRC , don't know when they will have them again

It was Lidl that did them. They were €20 for 10*50 Meade binos with coated lenses. I have a pair and they are very nice. Keep an eye on the Lidl website - I'm sure they'll have them again.
