Does anyone know of any historical/cultural connections between Ireland and the Middle East? Some people have pointed out some co-incidences and I was wondering if they were more than co-incidences.

and there was the whole Atlantean thing - but that's more North Africa than middle east.

Musically you don't need to blow into oilean pipes, bagpipes have a resevoir so you don't need to blow all the time, similar music is made across the med. cf. Launeddas and North Africa and so on to India with the snake charmers but they all use circular breathing to get a continuous air flow.
