I heard that advertised on the Radio this morning and it didn't sound too bad. However, it' most likely a Celeron with crappy Intel onboard graphics so I'd steer clear unless you want a very basic home PC and won't be doing any gaming or video processing or anything like that. Do you know the exact specs of the PC and what's included with it?

My brother bought it. It's fine for a family computer, does everything we need it to do.

it is a celeron and it does have onboard graphics. Dell does better ones for the same price.

Okay, I don't know if we're talking about the same deal here (might be varying from store to store around the country or something) but in Tesco here in Portlaoise the previous model they were selling had a Celeron processor but I noticed that a couple of weeks ago they got in a new batch of them and they have Athlon 64 processors in them now instead.

As far as I can remember from the spec I saw as I passed by them, they have an Athlon 64 (can't remember the speed, though. sorry! :( ) processor, 160GB hard drive, 512MB RAM, 17" flat screen and come bundled with a Lexmark all-in-one printer/scanner/copier thingy for something like €899. I think (but don't hold me to this) they also come with some sort of desk as well. My sister bought one of the previous models (with the Celeron processor, 80GB hard drive and a 15" flat screen instead) just a couple of weeks before this new offer started for the same price. If only she'd held out for a couple of weeks longer, eh? ;):D

I bought one of these direct from iqon, and in its original state it was crappy!!
a 2.8G P4, 512Mb extra mem and a second hand 9800pro and its ok now!
In its original state I'd swear my P111 900 was faster:cool:

if its an Iqon (who try desparetly to hide behind the Philips badge btw)...expect the same built quality as a Fiat 127.

they're sound but you'd be better off getting it with the dell, i know someone who got the tesco one and there was problems with the monitor and she had a bit of hassle getting support for it, so for aftersales support you'd probably be better off with dell

hehe - iQons assembly and support is based right here in dundalk - where you can get €2 a drink on friday nights. If your buying just hope your PC wasn't assembled on a saturday and certainly don't go looking for support on a saturday if it was.
