    Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best prices they have seen for a a 500gb SATA drive? Or possibly 400gb as an alternative.

I'm interested to hear what anyones best price has been so far.

    I've checked the usual suspects like komplett.ie, overclockers.co.uk, pixmania.com.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

    You'll find 2x200GB are cheaper.

There are space restrictions based on the number of drives the motherboard can take so I am looking at putting in a decent size hard-disk (or possibly two). There are already several 200-250gb disks in the machine.

You might consider going external, with daisy chained firewire drives. You can also RAID them. Even consider using an old machine as a file server. All in one machine is neater yes, but you're paying a big premium just to have one 400GB disk instead two.

But if you are determined to go with the one disk route, and I can understand why I suggest you keep an eye open on the special, and sale pages of Komplett and Amazon, as big disks are a popular sale item. Sometimes interesting stuff pops up here
